Champagne enter production phase

The Linux cluster we realized for CMCC is now fully operational.

The  Linux cluster, named champagne, we realized for the Bologna department of CMCC is now fully operational. It is going to be used as a development and testing environment for the MPI parallel climate-modelling codes that CMCC develops for its research activities.

The system, featuring 120 computing units and Infiniband networking, has been developed on top of the Debian GNU/Linux 5.0 (lenny) operating system.

Champagne has been benchmarked, by CMCC staff, using NCAR climate models, and its performance has been slightly above expectation. Sweet...
